Hi guys! Coming at you today with another skincare post. Today we are talking about the best products to use if you have combination/oily skin. While there are a million products in the world to treat specific skincare concerns, nothing beats going to the dermatologist. So, today’s post talks about the perfect products to compliment prescribed products. But of course, always ask your dermatologist to confirm these products can be used with your prescribed ones! I use a morning and night topical cream prescribed from my dermatologist and then was instructed to use gentle cleansing, toning and moisturizing products to compliment it. I’ve been using this routine for quite some time and love these gentle yet effective products.
Cleanser
Origins Zero Oil Deep Pore Cleanser: It’s a problem, I know, but rarely do I finish a whole bottle of anything. I love testing new products and trying the latest and greatest, but this is one of those products that I am about to finish up an entire bottle. I LOVE this cleanser. It is so gentle, has a soft, natural fragrance, and really helps to keep my oil in check.
SheaMoisture African Black Soap Bar: The reviews for this little black bar are INSANE! So of course I had to try it! It really helps clear your skin up and is so gentle. You can’t beat it for $6. I often use the Origins cleanser all over my face and eyes to take off makeup and then use this bar just on my skin for an extra cleanse.
Clarisonic: I’ve been using my Clarisonic for probably 5 years now and just LOVE it! It is absolutely worth the money and takes cleansing to a whole other level.
Toner
Acure Radically Rejuvenating Toner: I love both of these toners so much because they are all natural and really help balance out your skin. This Acure one is so gentle, yet incredible effective at clearing up your skin and keeping oil in check.
Dermalogica Clear Start All Over Toner: This is another fantastic toner that helps with breakouts. You can also use it on your back and chest and it doesn’t stain clothes.
Anti-Aging Serums
Farmacy Invisible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum: If you’re looking for an all-natural, reasonably priced anti-aging serum, this is your bottle! I love adding a couple drops of this serum into my lotion at night.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair: This is a cult-classic for a reason: it works magic and truly makes your skin glow! It is a definitely pricey… but if you’re looking for a great anti-aging serum, it’s worth the money.
Moisturizer
Origins Zero Oil Lotion: I am loving this entire line by Origins and their lotion does not disappoint. It is perfectly moisturizing but leaves your skin smooth and not the least bit greasy. It is also a great makeup primer.
Asterwood Vitamin C + Hyaluranoic Serum: I love adding just three drops of this vitamin C serum to my lotion to help balance out my skin tone. The serum is also just $12!
Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil: Not pictured above, but one of my new favorite skincare steps, I love adding a few drops of this oil to my Origins lotion. It soaks right into your skin, leaving behind no grease at all! It helps shield your skin from free radical damage and is so hydrating. Absolutely love this oil!
SPF: I talk about my favorite sunscreen in my new makeup routine here, so I didn’t include it in this post, but ALWAYS be sure to add some SPF love to your skincare routine!
Eye Cream
Origins GinZing Eye Cream: I love using this eye cream in the morning! It has a bit of an illuminating highlight that really makes your eyes glow and look wide-awake.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream: A bit pricier, but this eye cream is fantastic!
Acure Eye Cream: I’ve never found a better eye cream for the price! Like have you ever heard of eye cream for under $15? I love this one for anyone looking to test the waters and add an eye cream to their routine.
Treat
Clinique Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel: This is a great acne-clearing gel you can use on your entire face! If you are using dermatologist-prescribed products, ask if you can use this in combination with your topicals
Origins Super Spot Remover: This spot treatment is great for really zapping zits. It’s strong, so a little goes a long way.
Tools
Dermaroller: I RAVED about microneedling here and I am so happy to tried our the skincare tool that scared me the most. It has made such a huge difference on my skin. This little tool is only $11 too!
Pulsaderm Blue Light LED Wand: I recently started using this blue light therapy tool and its incredible! I have noticed way less breakouts since using it daily.
Masks
Clarifying
Origins Clear Improvement Face Mask: This cult-classic face mask has earned its popularity! It really helps to clear out your pores and it so easy to use with very little mess.
New York Biology Dead Sea Mud Mask: I’ve been using this mud mask for years and even talked about it in one of my first blog posts. It is an unusual mud mask that doesn’t tighten your skin when dying and leaves your skin feeling hydrated afterwards. When I use it consistently, I notice way less breakouts!
Sunday Riley Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask: I love this sulfur-based mask for when I have a flare up I am looking to tackle quickly. You can use it for 10 minutes and then rinse it off or use it overnight. I like using it overnight since my skin is a bit oilier and doesn’t mind the drying properties of sulfur.
Brightening/Resurfacing
Derma-E Overnight Peel: This product is newer to my skincare lineup. After reading so much about how you need a chemical peel in your routine, I decided to give this all-natural one a shot (since “chemical peel” sounds like of scary, don’t you think?). So far I really like it and it doesn’t irritate my skin at all. I’ll keep you updated on results as I continue to use it.
You don’t get a do-over with your skin, so you might as well take care of it! If you’re looking for a simpler routine than all of these steps, I cannot recommend these steps more: cleanse, moisturize, use SPF! If you have any questions, feel free to drop them below. Thanks for reading! XO
