Hi beauties! I always LOVE sharing my favorite beauty products with you, so today I wanted to give you a little update on my everyday makeup routine that mixes drugstore and prestige products to fit any budget. A lot of these products I have been using for years and some of them are new launches I’ve started to incorporate. Happy beautifying!
Sunscreen & Primer
Long gone are the days of baking my skin with no sunscreen, tracking the UV count on my weather app, crossing my fingers for anything above an 8… We’ve all been there. But the older I get, the more I realize that self-tanner is a gem and sunscreen is a necessity. Finding a facial sunscreen that doesn’t make my skin greasy or cause me to break out can be tricky, but when I stumbled across this Australian Gold SPF 50 sunscreen, I fell in love! It says tinted, but it really doesn’t leave behind any color at all. It dries matte and you don’t even notice it is on – I love it (especially for the price!!!). This also doubles great as a primer.
Most days, I call it a day with my sunscreen as a primer, but on days where my skin just isn’t working with me or I want to take my makeup up a step, I LOVE this non-irritating Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer. Not only is it incredibly smoothing, but it also is very hydrating while still keeping my skin matte.
Foundation & Concealer
You know the question every magazine asks every celebrity? “If you could only live with one beauty product what would it be?” Mine would have to be foundation, which is probably the most boring answer ever. But I have never had incredible skin, so adding a layer of very natural looking foundation really gives me that extra boost of confidence! That being said, I am so picky with my foundations and I will outline my favorites in a post soon for those of you who value your foundation like I do, but for now, here are my four favorites that I am always switching in between:
- Estee Lauder Double Wear
- It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream
- Bare Minerals BarePro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation
- Clinique Acne Solutions Liquid Foundation
Tarte Shape Tape is the BEST concealer I have ever used, hands down! I use shade “light” for under my eyes and “light-medium” to cover up blemishes (but only during desperate times for blemishes because it is a little bit thick and slightly irritating on already irritated skin).
I am always switching up my mascaras since there are just so many good options out there! The Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara is from there new line and I surprisingly LOVE it. I say surprisingly because the brush is not normally the type I like. I prefer a good rounded cat eye brush, and this one, like the Tarte Gifted Amazonian Gifted Clay Mascara, is very bristly, but both are great options that really give you some length. For a good cat eye, rounded brush, I LOVE the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I also love the Colossal Cat Eyes Mascara (not pictures above) and have used that one for years. For the most part, I almost always use drugstore mascaras since there are just so many great options.
For eyeliner, I am currently using the Revlon liquid eyeliner I chatted about here. I am running low and on the hunt to try a new one for the first time in a couple years, so if you have any recommendations, drop them below!
Is it possible to use just ONE eye shadow palette? They are just too fun to limit yourself! I always start with my Tarte Lid Lock Clay Eye Base primer. I am loving these two palettes pictured above or spring. The Tarte Make Magic Happen Palette has the most gorgeous shimmery and natural tones. The Maybelline Total Temptation Palette has the prettiest shades of peaches and lilacs that are giving me all of the spring vibes. Totally in love with each of these.
I have been using this Tartelette Tease palette for months now (you can see the love) and it is the perfect every day palette. The colors are so natural and blend so fell. If you are a stickler on fall out – be warned that there is some off the brush, but never off your eyes! For the price, you really can’t beat this palette! It’s also the perfect size for travel.
When it comes to brows, I really hate changing things up! I like having an easy routine that makes filling them in effortless, and I have definitely found some products I love. To start, I fill them in with the Ulta Beauty Collection Brow Powder Duo (not pictured above because it is so mangled after three years of use – yes, you read that right. – THREE.). If my shows need a bit of brushing or shaping, I am loving this new Maybelline Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil. It is so easy to use and isn’t to bold, which I love. Seriously, if you can’t tell by my honest reviews, I totally am loving the Total Temptation line. Finally, if I want a little extra drama to my brows, the Benefit Gimme Brow is incredible! On days where I am not doing a full face of makeup, Gimme Brow is also fantastic for just a little finishing touch to my brows. I have used this for years!
Bronzer & Blush
I have never found a better bronzer than the Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer. It gives you that effortless, air-brushed look with minimal effort and the color is the perfect tan shade. I am a sucker for buying blushes because of their pretty pink hues, but the two that I routinely use and love are the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (pictures above) and the Clinique Soft-Pressed Powder Blush in Mocha Pink that I have used for years and years.
On days where I am feeling a little extra glam, I do like dusting a bit of highlighter on my cheek bones and under my brows. I have jumped around between a lot, but one I especially love is actually the highlighter in the limited edition Melisa Michelle palette, which totally makes me want to try an Ulta Beauty Collection highlighter (and as you know if you read my beauty PR tips and tricks series, I am a huge fan of the Ulta Beauty line! The products are amazing!).
Powder & Setting Spray
To finish off my look, since I have oilier skin, I like to dust it with foundation powder or setting powder. My favorite foundation powder is the classic Clinique Loose Powder I have used for years. My favorite setting powders are the Dermablend Loose Setting Powder and the Tarte powder. For touchups throughout the day when my skin get oily, I LOVE this Neutrogena Skin-Clearing Powder that really fights oil and keeps acne from forming. Read all about that powder and the line here.
For setting sprays, on a daily use, I actually love using this Mario Badescu Facial Spray, even though that totally isn’t its main purpose. I love the fresh feel it gives my skin and I also totally believe it locks your makeup in. Also dying to try this new chamomile and lavender one! For my formal days, I have joined the Urban Decay All-Nighter fan club.
When it comes to my lips, I like to stay neutral and classic on an everyday basis. I love a good pinky-nude in every way, shape or form. Here are some of my favorites:
- BareMinerals Moxie Plumping Lip Gloss
- Tarte Lip Architect
- Woosh Beauty Spin-On Lip Gloss
- Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick
- Tarte Quench Lip Rescue
I hope you enjoyed this outline of the products I used on a daily basis. Of course I love the days that require nothing but a messy pony on the top of my head and a clean face, but I also really do enjoy the process of getting made up for work or any other event. So, however you choose create your daily routine, have fun with it and find something that makes you happy and confident. XO!
