Let’s talk: at-home LED light therapy masks!
For as much as I’m a complete and total beauty lover, I have to say: it’s rare I find myself actually going into a spa for treatments. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to, and I’m sure my acne-prone skin would also be thanking me, but life just always seems to get in the way…
So when I heard about the rise of at-home LED light therapy masks, I was immediately intrigued – but my very next thought was, do they actually work?
After some thorough research and a whole lot of staring in the mirror, begging my skin to cooperate with me – especially with my wedding just months away – I decided, why not? Let’s give it a try, and if nothing else, I can report back to you all and help us navigate the overwhelming world of endless products and tools to try.
So today I am so excited to share with you my honest thoughts on the Omnilux CLEAR LED light therapy mask that I’ve been putting to the (very strict) test these past few months.
But first, one very key question…
Are LED light therapy masks safe?
I researched this heavily before considering investing in an at-home LED light therapy mask. If you’ve been around here for some time, you know clean and natural living is something that is SO important to me. So the last thing I wanted to do was after eating clean and organic, changing out cleaning products for nontoxic options, and grounding my skincare routine in clean products would be to ruin all of that work by putting a potentially dangerous tool on my face. But thankfully, fear not.
The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, along with many other medical journals, have stated that LED light therapy is a natural and safe skincare step. This process is backed and recommended by dermatologists and aestheticians across the world for anti-aging benefits and acne prevention.
The one thing to be careful of is eye protection – the light could impact your vision with long-term use if you don’t use proper protection, so grab yourself a pair of UV eye covers and play it safe! However, the Omnilux masks already have holes for the eyes to prevent damage, so this would just help you double up on precaution.
Powerful drugs and prescription topicals can irritate the skin and cause a lot of unwanted side effects, but Omnilux CLEAR helps soothe and heal your skin, and may even soften the appearance of acne scarring, while causing almost no unwanted side effects – if your skin is really sensitive, you might have a little bit of redness, but I have personally never experienced that. For me, it’s completely side-effect free! (Which is crazy to say, because almost every acne product out there has a side-effect from irritation to dryness, to SO many more things if you enter the world of oral prescriptions, too).

What makes Omnilux CLEAR stand out from other at-home LED light therapy masks?
Here’s the thing: not all at-home LED light therapy masks are created equal. That’s why there is such a vast range of prices for these at-home tools, so it’s important to understand what your LED light therapy mask is actually doing for your skin.
Omnilux offers the only medical grade, flexible home-use, and FDA-cleared red and blue LED light therapy mask proven to significantly reduce or eliminate acne. They use the most clinically-effective LEDs out there, which is why the cost of their masks (about $395) are more expensive than others you might see on the shelves.
Will Omnilux CLEAR help my acne?
Omnilux CLEAR has been proven to kill bacteria and help reduce oil production and inflammation that causes acne – in fact, it is not only FDA-cleared for safety, but FDA-cleared for specifically preventing acne. It also helps clear breakouts faster and has been used in dermatology clinics for over 20 years with TONS of success. It is also the number one brand used by most physicians!
Omnilux use the most clinically-effective LEDs available. Their blue light targets and kills P. acnes bacteria living on your skin’s surface and the red light heads into the dermis, triggering our body’s natural healing response – including the production of new collagen, the reduction of excess oils, and the reduction of inflammation and redness. Win, win, win!

What does the process look like using Omnilux CLEAR?
Alright, now let’s get to the experience of using Omnilux LED! The mask itself is incredibly flexible and comfortable. All you have to do is pop it on 3-4 times a week for an easy 10-minute treatment! Once you’re at the point where a lot of your acne has gone away, you can scale back to one treatment a week for maintenance.
All you have to do is plug the mask into the portable power controller, turn it on, and get back to business while the mask does its work. I LOVE how I am able to bring these powerful treatments home (or on-the-go – it always comes with me in my suitcase!) and continue on with checking off my to-do list.
Pain? Absolutely none! Fear not. It is such a relaxing process for me. It’s so easy to put it on and go, go, go, sometimes I have to challenge myself to take those ten minutes to just zen out – ha! I look forward to doing my LED light therapy treatment every time I do it.
When you’re done with your treatment, I like to put a little bit of hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball and swipe it across my mask to ensure it is disinfected for my next treatment.
Then onto my normal skincare routine I go! No down time, and you’re pretty much safe to continue on with your normal lineup of products – although, check out Omnilux’s site for a few ingredients that could potentially cause irritation if you use it with this mask (I love their transparency and deep breakdown here!). I personally have not had to adjust any of my products though!

Is Omnilux Clear Worth It? The Final Takeaway
Okay, the answer we’ve all been waiting for. Is Omnilux CLEAR worth it? After putting this mask to the test for three months, I can safely say I am SO impressed with the results.
I am very strict with my skincare routine already, I keep my pillow cases clean, I try my best not to touch my face too much, I take the right supplements and vitamins for me, and I eat very clean. And yet – I STILL have acne. I knew I needed something else to layer into my already dedicated routine to really help push this process along – and this was IT.
I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on acne treatments. When I saw the $395 price tag of Omnilux CLEAR, of course I knew I had to really give it some thought if I was going to invest in it, but I’ll tell you what: to me, it is completely worth the money. Using this mask 3-4 times a week has really helped to calm down any breakouts by reducing redness and inflammation, helped breakouts to go away faster, and after a few months of regular use, I’ve noticed significantly less breakouts and less excess oil. I was amazed by the immediate inflammation-calming results and the long-term acne prevention results.
So let’s think of it this way: $400 is two facials (maybe – maybe just one!). But with this at-home LED light therapy mask, you get ENDLESS treatments! So while it might be a bit more costly up-front than a new serum that promises to change the game, for example, long-term, this is such a smart skincare investment. When I think about the thousands of dollars I’ve spent on products that swear to make a difference, I wish I invested in a scientifically backed tool earlier.
All of this being said, please remember: major change will not happen without a dedicated lifestyle effort. That includes all of the things I mentioned above and more: keeping your pillows clean, drinking lots of water, focusing on your internal health, ensuring your skincare routine isn’t contributing to your acne, making sure your haircare products aren’t irritating your skin, and so much more. No matter how amazing your facial or new serum or LED light therapy mask is, nothing will magically cure your acne if you don’t put the work into the other areas of your routine as well.
But if you, like me – and like SO many other people out there – feel like you have tried everything under the sun, and need something to help push you towards the finish line: this is it. Make the investment in yourself, take those 10 minutes 3-4 times a week to give your skin some extra love, and you will be amazed by the results! Stick with it, I know this acne journey is hard, but you will find something that works for your skin, and you WILL conquer it. If you decide to try out Omnilux CLEAR, let me know how it goes – I hope it works as well for you as it did for me!
Sending love!
